Oliver Construction's Renovation of Cape May's Kindle Ford-Lincoln Featured in Automotive News This Month

Oliver Construction, the design-build firm trusted by small businesses as well as Fortune 500 companies, was featured in the April 2017 Fixed Ops Journal supplement of leading national trade magazine Automotive News, for its successful renovation of Cape May, New Jersey’s Kindle Ford-Lincoln last year.

In the article “Real-Time Rebuild,” writer Jim Henry noted that Kindle Ford-Lincoln had not been fully renovated since it opened in 1957, and that when the dealership’s executives launched a reconstruction project in late 2015, they were concerned about lost revenue if the building had to close for renovations. According to Henry, Kindle Ford-Lincoln had one of its best years in 2016, including a seven percent increase in gross revenue from fixed operations, as the dealership could stay open and in operation during the eight-month renovation.

“The dealership hired Oliver Construction … to handle the renovation,” Henry said. “The company’s principal, John Tahtabrounian, had endorsements from Ford Motor Co. and other dealers.”

According to Tahtabrounian in the article, the key to keeping Kindle Ford-Lincoln open was isolating and fixing up one piece of the dealership at a time.  The article describes the work Oliver Construction did prior to the actual renovation to determine which areas of the dealership could be worked on with the least customer service disruption, including the dealership’s shop of 20 service bays. In the service bays, Oliver Construction worked on groups of four bays at a time to keep as many bays open as possible during the process.
