Kokota International Airport is set to handle increased Air and Passengers traffic with the commencement of Virgin Atlantic operations.
Online, May 24, 2010 (Newswire.com) - ACCRA - Ghana's Kokota International Airport is set to handle increased Air and Passengers traffic with the commencement of Virgin Atlantic operations.
Virgin Atlantic will from starting Monday 31, May 2010 operate direct flights from the Capital Accra to London three times a week, a route expected to stiffen passenger-Airlines competition.
The Director General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority Kwame Mamphey confirmed the development adding that the airport is being readied to handle the anticipated increase in traffic.
The introduction of Virgin Airlines services brings the number of airlines serving the Ghana Airport to about thirty; of which the Accra-London route specifically will be operated by now three airlines namely Ghana International Airlines, British Airways and lately Virgin Atlantic.
The airline would be the first of three airlines to begin scheduled flights to Accra. The Airbus A340-300 aircraft which would fly the route has an upper deck reserved for premium first class passengers is renowned for offering amazing bargains to the disadvantage of other operators plying the route.
