Toast Restaurant POS, the leading point of sale (POS) system built exclusively for restaurants, announced today that Bareburger, a fast casual restaurant chain committed to serving locally-sourced, organic hamburgers, has partnered with Toast to replace its current iPad POS system at 27 locations and counting.

With plans to have 50 restaurants open by the end of the year, it was important for Bareburger COO Eric Kinniburgh and Director of IT Paul Zarmati to choose a restaurant management system with aggregated sales reporting, best-in-class customer support, and the technology to improve guests’ experience.

"We were looking for a company with whom we could build a relationship. We evaluated dozens of companies, but we felt almost immediately that the best partnership was with Toast."

“We were looking for a company with whom we could build a relationship. We evaluated dozens of companies, but we felt almost immediately that the best partnership was with Toast,” said Zarmati.

Kinniburgh said, "Toast is growing and innovating like crazy. Since first looking at Toast two years ago, the amount of growth is unbelievable. That was a huge thing for me, to see this system transform into the advanced enterprise restaurant management software it is today."

Further galvanized by Toast’s  $30 million round of funding, Bareburger moved forward with a pilot of Toast at their flagship locations in New York City, NY,  Stamford, CT and Santa Monica, CA. The company quickly noticed turn times and tip percentages increase with the adoption of Toast’s tableside Android tablets and were pleased with the ability to easily pull sales reports from multiple locations into a single view. Within a month of launching the pilot stores, Bareburger decided to move all domestic locations to Toast.

“With Toast’s handheld tablets, you can have a conversation with guests while you’re taking the order,” said Zarmati. “Our average ticket time is 12 minutes, and these tablets help our efficiency by eliminating another step in the process. Plus, it makes the servers seem like magicians.”

Toast’s integration with CrunchTime, a back-office restaurant software system, was a requirement for Bareburger. According to Zarmati, they needed a “unified system company-wide.”

“Before Toast, all of our data was localized. For one restaurant, it would take three to four hours to generate a report, because all the data was on-premise. Now, it’s instant.”

Aman Narang, co-founder of Toast and Bareburger’s first contact at the restaurant POS company, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership.

“As a fast casual chain opening new restaurant every month, Bareburger needed an enterprise POS system that could grow with them," said Narang. "Bareburger is a strong partner for Toast as we continue to build software and integrations for large national enterprises.”

“Toast is flexible and committed to making the customer happy,” said Kinniburgh. “It astounds me still.”
