Brazilian Producer Beatriz Browne Begins Production on New Documentary About a NYC Bookstore

The streets of the West Village have been busy as Beatriz Browne produces and directs her new film about an independent bookstore and community that is struggling to survive.

As of September 2018, it has been announced that Beatriz Browne is producing and directing a documentary about an independent bookstore in New York City and its owner Jim Drougas. Pre-production began early in 2018, and the filmmaker has already stepped foot with a crew in the streets of the West Village as production began. The filmmaker anticipates a digital premiere in early 2019.

In the announcement, Browne describes the store as "possibly the last bit of cultural heritage and a home to an eccentric community within the neighborhood," explaining "it's almost too precious to not preserve."

"But beyond the whimsical world that the characters within this community live in, there's a complex dynamic protagonist whose life story has yet to be told."

Browne has previously produced multiple videos for media company Fatherly, including her prominent franchised series "My Kid The," which features prodigy children and the challenges of parenting in each episode. She also produced a short documentary for the company about boxing being an escape for troubled youth, which is prominent of the company's brand and exemplifies her vision as a filmmaker.

With her evident passion, you can expect her film to be released in nationwide festivals as of early 2019.
