Charlotte, NC Motorcycle Club Brings Christmas Early to a Dallas Animal Shelter
Online, December 11, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Early last month, the Charlotte Sportbike Club gathered together for their monthly meeting to discuss, among other things, who was to benefit from their yearly Christmas Charity ride. The Sport bike club was formed eight years ago with one theme in mind. Safe and responsible motorcycling. Comprised of ex-racers, new and well seasoned riders, this Charlotte based motorcycle club hosts several events through the year, such as weekly dinner rides, Quarterly Adopt-a-Highway in Shady Valley, TN, Two family based trips to Deals Gap, TN for Wake the Dragon in the spring and Homecoming the fall, as well as several other smaller events through the year. In the past, the Charlotte Dragoneez charity event has sent them to the Jeff Gordon's Children's Hospital and to the ELLA fund at the NorthEast Medical Center. This year it was agreed to turn their attention to our four legged friends. The Gaston County Animal Control is the lowest funded and highest kill shelter in Gaston County, NC. It was unanimously decided this shelter would be the surprise recipient for the donations. After several phone calls and e-mails, four locations agreed to support their cause. Fausto's coffee; located at 116 N.E. Court Square in Lincolnton, NC, First Class Kennels; located at 701 S. Lincoln Street, Dallas NC, Happy Dog Cafe and Boutique; located at 26 N. Main St., Belmont, NC and McKenny-Salinas Powersports; located at 4804 Wilkinson Blvd., Gastonia, NC. Each location agreed to display blue snowflake boxes for two weeks, after which the Charlotte Dragoneez would request all motorcyclists interested in helping the animals to accompany the small 9 member club in picking up the boxes and delivering them to the Gaston County Animal Shelter. The Meet and Greet was at Fausto's Coffee on a chilly 42 degree morning and 16 riders came out to show their support. Each rider also brought a gift for the animals. By midafternoon all locations were visited and thanked for their help, the Charlotte Dragoneez was greeted with locked gates once they reached the shelter. To their surprise there was one worker still lingering. Heather was all smiles when she saw the boxes and their contents. Merry Christmas to the Gaston County Animal Shelter. The Charlotte Dragoneez Motorcycle Club will be running this charity drive called "Mutts in Rutts" next Christmas with more donation locations.
