In the Field of Digital Marketing, #TimesUp for Women to Claim Their Power

Arena Education launches innovative $0 upfront digital marketing program for women.

Arena Education is on a mission to empower women financially with the announcement of its new digital marketing program. The online school is featuring a one-year program with weekly career coaching to give women the skills and experience they need to advance their career in digital marketing - without paying anything upfront.

"It's exciting to join the #TimesUp movement to show our solidarity in empowering women," says Arena Education Founder, & CEO Nicolette Rankin. "Having a skill set in digital marketing can be used as a force for good in the workplace." According to McKinsey Marketing Partners yearly report, demand for digital marketing jobs is outstripping supply of workers two-to-one. "Empowering women with the skills for these jobs clearly seemed like a profound double win,” says Rankin.

"It's exciting to join the #TimesUp movement to show our solidarity in empowering women."

Nicolette Rankin, Arena Education Founder, & CEO

Nicolette Rankin is a three-time Edtech Entrepreneur and a case protagonist at the Harvard Business School. At 24 years old, she co-founded Open English, which grew to over 500,000 students, 5,000 staff members and valued at over $350M in 2013. Harvard Business School’s Bharat Anand claimed, “Nicolette has one of the most compelling voices in education financing” during last year’s ASU GSV conference.

At Arena, students pay no upfront tuition; instead, students sign an income share agreement where they pay 5% of their income after graduation for five years at a $50,000 annual salary cap. Other schools like Purdue University and MissionU were early pioneers offering education financing in the form of an income share agreement in residency-based programs. “Income sharing is a fair, dynamic and powerful way to align the incentives in career-oriented education programs,” says Rankin.

According to the school’s admissions department, the acceptance rate is less than ten percent and is seeking high-achieving women looking for careers in tech-enabled businesses.  Arena student, LeVon Conda, a 33-year-old single mother of two living in Chicago says, “A year ago, I was working in a dead-end corporate sales job. Arena was perfect for me to crack into a more technology-oriented career and get the skills and experience I need to become financially free without having to learn web programming.”

The school has also attracted high profile speakers on Arena’s Center Stage to empower women to move from jobs to careers. Upcoming speakers include, No Girl Left Behind founder - Michelle Delamor, Netflix’s We Speak Dance founder – Vandana Hart, Mexican Businesswoman, Female Empowerment Philanthropist - Angelica Fuentes, Cam Kashani - Godmother of Silicon Beach, Media and Tech Executive and Advisor - Joanna Popper, and the Fourteenth Employee at Snapchat - Chloe Drimal.

With the rise of female empowerment programs like Arena Education, it seems there may be a path to a future where the #TimesUp moves from a hashtag to a societal norm.
