Golf Insider tracked the handicaps of 257 golfers over 12-months. They also collected data on playing habits, practice habits and wider aspects such as taking golf lessons and keeping stats. The volume of practice and play were not associated with golfers improving. Keeping regular playing stats was the variable best associated with golfers improving, followed by having a practice plan and levels of focus in practice.
