Don't believe in reincarnation? Maybe Author Skye Lane 's new web-based book, "Was," based on actual past life regressions, will convince you.
Online, January 21, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Two years ago author Skye Lane, www.skyelane.net, began undergoing regular past life regressions with New York clinical psychologist, Laurie Greenberg, Ph.D. She intended it as an experiment to see if she could find meaning behind the difficult relationship she and her partner were engaged in. While she was familiar with subjects like karma, past lives, and reincarnation, she had never undergone a regression before.
"From the moment my partner and I met we shared this connection, as in, 'whoosh, I have always known you, haven't I?'" says Lane. "At first it was like a fairytale, two soul mates or twin flames coming together, and then, almost immediately, complex issues arose between us that couldn't be addressed by traditional methods. They were so intensely personal and particular to us, that it seemed like our problems stemmed from somewhere deep in the past. Yet, we had never met before. "
Lane engaged the help of Greenberg, who put her in a light trance for their first regression. "The regression was full of who my partner and I were as a couple, in such a knowing and detailed way that I could never have come up with it in a conscious state. It gave new meaning to what we were going through. I mean, if you could hold a up mirror to your problems, whatever they may be, and could see their source and understand them in a clearsighted way, wouldn't you want to do that?"
With the idea of writing a book, Lane started keeping detailed notes and recordings of the sessions with Greenberg's permission. "I found that after the regressions I'd get a rush of information. It was like a door had been opened into that particular lifetime. I'd have to go somewhere like a Starbucks immediately after so I could catch the flood of details as they came out." Often this took the form of entire conversations, deep emotions, or sketches of costumes or architecture. She recorded it all in her notes.
One of Lane's regressions took place in Normandy. "I felt it was around 1100 or so, but that I was more English than French. I had a sketch of the dress I was wearing at the time and that combined with other details enabled me to trace the lifetime to 1183, when England and France were united. It's pretty remarkable when that happens," says Lane.
Rather than just lay out her experiences, Lane decided she wanted to write about them in a way that was universal. "I thought a storyline in which the regressions unfolded organically, was the best way to facilitate an understanding of how the past influences the present," she explains.
