Retreat Senior Living LLC and the Brothers of St. Patrick Join Forces on New Orange County Senior Housing Community

Retreat Senior Living LLC is pleased to announce that it has entered into a long-term ground lease with the Brothers of St. Patrick to own and operate an 88-unit active lifestyle community for those age 62 and older. Located in Midway City, it will be the first new active living community to be built in the Huntington Beach and Westminster area in more than 20 years. With most existing senior communities in the area running at capacity, The Retreat will bring new housing opportunities to these surrounding cities.

“This agreement represents the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Retreat Senior Living in Orange County. A combination of highly amenitized design, proximity to a multitude of services and entertainment, and market demand are what make this new neighborhood so dynamic. We are excited to build a senior living community in the heart of Orange County that addresses a significant need for active senior housing in the immediate area and look forward to a long-term relationship with the Brothers of St. Patrick to serve the county’s growing senior population,” says David DiRienzo, managing member of Retreat Senior Living.

“We’re delighted to enter into this lease with Retreat Senior Living LLC. After exhaustive research, we were convinced that they were the best-qualified developer to execute the vision and a business plan that will provide important long-term funding for programs and maintenance of our facilities while preserving church ownership of the property,” says Patrician Brother Philip Shepler. “The character of the project is something that we are proud to be a part of and we are thrilled that it will increase high-quality housing for seniors in the area.”

One mile from Interstate 405 at Bolsa Avenue, West of Beach Boulevard, The Retreat is situated on 3.5 acres of park-like land adjacent to the Brothers of St. Patrick Monastery at 7820 Bolsa Avenue, Midway City. Ideally located between the cities of Huntington Beach and Westminster, The Retreat will be an urban oasis close to a myriad of services and amenities including the shops and restaurants at Bella Terra Mall and Westminster Mall, Goldenwest College and Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Hoag Health Center of Huntington Beach.

The community will offer 88 spacious for-lease studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments featuring modern kitchens and appliances. An exercise salt-water pool, bocce ball court, resident community garden and modern clubhouse with a state-of-the-art fitness facility will comprise just some of its community amenities, creating a better resident experience.

With construction already underway, the project is scheduled to open in the fall of 2019. Costa Mesa-based Slater Builders Inc. is the general contractor on the project. Irvine-based WSH Management, a specialist in senior living, has been engaged as the community manager.
