Construction Underway on 32,000-Sq.-Ft. Clubhouse at Stonebrae Country Club in San Francisco Bay Area

Leading luxury golf course community Stonebrae Country Club has started construction on its new permanent Clubhouse, which will cost approximately $15 million. The facility will offer an array of features and amenities for residents and club members.

Stonebrae Country Club, a leading luxury golf course community in the San Francisco Bay Area, recently announced the start of construction on its highly anticipated permanent Clubhouse, an approximately $15 million project. The roughly 32,000-square-foot facility will serve as a focal point for residents and members, offering fine dining, event space, recreational accommodations, a pro shop and more, with an anticipated grand opening set for July 2014.

"Stonebrae is one of the nation's premier luxury golf course communities, and we're taking every step to ensure the new Clubhouse reflects that," stated Eric Jacobsen, general manager at TPC Stonebrae. "We want members to experience living like they never have before. The natural landscaping, championship course, luxury amenities, dedicated staff and valued members have all played a part in shaping this unique lifestyle, and the addition of the new Clubhouse will only serve to elevate Stonebrae to the next level."

Replacing the temporary Clubhouse building that has served Stonebrae since 2007, the new structure will provide panoramic views of the Bay Area from two levels, with the lobby and main social venues on the second floor. From the entrance, guests will be formally greeted by a concierge service at reception, after which they may seek out one of the Clubhouse's many conveniences.

Features and amenities include tennis courts; a full fitness facility; yoga and fitness room; pool for lap swimming, water aerobics and swim lessons; kids' pool; outdoor spa; grill and patio area; and bocce courts. Golfers benefit from a fully stocked men's and women's pro shop supplying clothing and hard goods as well as offering custom orders and custom fitting. Furthermore, a boardroom, banquet room with 200-person capacity and event lawn will accommodate private functions, social gatherings and special occasions such as weddings and corporate events.

In addition, the facility will house luxurious casual and formal daily dining options, including an all-new members grill, full bar and terrace with a three-bridge view of San Francisco Bay. Acclaimed chef Aaron Johnson, president of the Chefs Association of the Pacific Coast, will continue to bring his signature style of gourmet fine dining to Stonebrae with a wide spectrum of ethnically diverse five-star cuisine.

As designed by San Francisco-based firm Hornberger + Worstell, the Clubhouse will feature Craftsman-style architectural details that accent the natural topography. With 30 years of experience, Hornberger + Worstell is recognized for its expertise in the master planning and design of destination resorts, urban business and conference hotels, recreation and wellness facilities and academic and residential communities around the globe.

"Hornberger + Worstell perfectly captured what we were looking for in a clubhouse. They took into consideration the feel, texture, climate and environment of the surroundings to create a facility that blends well into nature, matches existing community infrastructure and embodies the overall vision of the project. Their experience and industry expertise will bring a whole new layer to the Stonebrae community," said Jacobsen.

Stonebrae is a guard-gated, master-planned community that offers luxury golf course living in the Bay Area. Located along the ridge of the East Bay Hills, this exclusive country club community provides an array of new home villages, including the currently selling Veranda Heights by Pulte Homes, The Overlook by Meritage Homes and Camberly Place by Sainte Claire Custom Homes, where residents receive all the benefits of a social membership to the Clubhouse.

At the heart of the community is TPC Stonebrae's award-winning par-72 golf course designed by world-renowned Scottish architect David McLay Kidd. The 7,200-yard championship course is characterized by rolling grasslands, native wind-twisted oaks and lichen-glazed outcroppings, affording inspired design, panoramas and a reverence for nature in a layout 1,500 feet above San Francisco's East Bay.

A regular host of the web.com PGA tour, TPC Stonebrae will take the year off from hosting duties in light of recent construction. "Allowing for this break means we will have a facility in place that will enhance our tournament in the coming years," reported TPC Stonebrae Managing Director Mike Letchinger. "This will only benefit our sponsors, the competitors, our community and club members and our charitable beneficiaries."

The groundbreaking ceremony, which was recently held to honor the start of Clubhouse construction, was attended by 350 guests. The next ceremony is expected to be the ribbon cutting, an important event for residents, staff and members alike.
