Fly By Night Theatre Company presents "Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead"

Fly by Night Theatre launches its 2010 Season with Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead. The hilarious play is an unauthorized parody of the Peanuts characters during their teenage years. Proceeds support Royal Seed Needy Home in Ghana.

Fly By Night Theatre Company proudly presents the first play of its 2010 season, Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead by Bert V. Royal. Directed by Fly by Night company member Marisa Ship, the production officially opens on June 17 and will run until June 19 at the Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People's Nathan Cohen Theatre.

Hailed by critics and audiences since its New York premiere, Dog Sees God is an unauthorized parody about the characters from the Peanuts comic strip during their teenage years. CB's dog is put down after he contracts rabies and kills 'a little yellow bird', leaving his owner to ponder the afterlife and his place in the world. CB's sister, his best friend, Van, and other characters are too absorbed in their own teenage predicaments to offer much help, but a neglected and bullied student provides the comfort and candor that CB seeks.

Dog Sees God was one of the most acclaimed plays at the 2004 New York International Fringe Festival, winning the Excellence Award for Best Overall Production, Theatermania's Play Award, and the GLAAD Media Award for Best Off-Off-Broadway production. In 2006, the play was honoured with Broadway.com's Audience Award for Favorite Off-Broadway Production and the HX Award for Best Play.

Making her Fly by Night directing debut with Dog Sees God is company member Marisa Ship, winner of the 2008 Robertson Davies Playwriting Award. She directs an outstanding cast that includes Peter McLaren (Charles Manson and Timothy Leary at Folsom Prison, Attention Theatre/Toronto Fringe 2009), Caitlynne Medrek (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Fallen Rock Productions), Paolo Santalucia (After Juliet, Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People), Adam Christie (Goodnight, Amherst, Teatro Theatre Company), Lindsey Middleton (Cats, Gypsy Theatre), Kelsey Goldberg (Widows, Theatre Erindale), Sophia Fabiilli (The Clandestine Marriage, '10|HOTscrawlsFestival and Theatre Erindale), and Adrian Rebucas (Bye Bye Birdie, Strathclaire).
