28th Annual Wisconsin Alumni Brat Fest in Austin, Texas

Online, October 4, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Wisconsin Alumni of Austin 28th Annual Brat Fest, Austin, TX: On Thursday, October 20, 2011, the Wisconsin Alumni Chapter of Austin will be hosting its 28th annual Brat Fest event at the Zilker Club House. The event is the alumni group's annual fundraiser aimed at celebrating Wisconsin while raising money for its annual scholarship drive. Each year, all the money raised is donated to Austin area students who attend the University of Wisconsin (new and returning), and every dollar that is donated is then matched by the Wisconsin Alumni Association.

The event itself features a gathering of alumni, family, and friends followed by a pot-luck style meal, where the club provides freshly prepared and grilled bratwursts and everyone brings a traditional picnic style dish to share. Following the meal, there is a raffle of Wisconsin themed apparel and other goods with all proceeds going directly the to Chapter's Scholarship Fund. At the end of the night, the event closes with a group singing of the time honored tradition of "Varsity!"

Many people draw parallels between Austin and Madison. Among the similarities are that both are capitals of their respective states and that both are well known and well educated college towns. Austin dwarves Madison from a population standpoint and is known technology hotbed. Madison, on the other hand, while being much smaller, is known worldwide for being a research hotbed.

The cost for this year's Brat Fest event is $21 per person (includes an Austin Badger Koozie), $5 for kids aged 10-18, and free for those under 10. Brat Fest will start with a reception at 6:30 pm and the program and dinner will begin at 7pm. The Club's website can be viewed at www.austinbadgers.com.
