Author Stoney McGurrin's New Audiobook 'And That's How It All Started' is an Entertaining Memoir Recalling a Long and Eventful Life Stretching From Ireland to America

Recent audiobook release 'And That's How It All Started' from Audiobook Network author Stoney McGurrin is a lighthearted yet poignant autobiography recalling a wide-ranging variety of life experiences, from the author's rural childhood in County Leitrim, Ireland, to his many decades as a New Yorker.

Stoney McGurrin, an Irish-born writer who immigrated to the United States as a teenager in the '50s, has completed his new audiobook "And That's How It All Started": a rollicking reflection on the colorful cast of characters and events that have enriched a well-lived life.

In his debut book, Stoney McGurrin brings listeners on the adventure of his lifetime. He spent months in hospital as a four-year-old, where he almost lost his arm only to have it saved by famous French surgeon Dr. Chance. He left Leitrim as a teenager on a ship across the Atlantic to New York City. The stories are exciting, sad, happy, and true, telling his story from 1941 to the present day.

Author Stoney McGurrin writes, "Our house and shop were 200 yards from the post office. People would come every Friday to get their old-age pension one-pound notes. If they could not come themselves, their neighbor, son, daughter, wife—whoever was going that way—could pick it up for them. They would then come to our shop and pick up a few things they might need. The bus stopped at the shop three days a week at 10:00 a.m."

Published by Audiobook Network, author Stoney McGurrin's new audiobook is an engrossing portrait of a first-generation Irish American through decades of upheaval in American culture.

Audiobooks are the fastest-growing segment in the digital publishing industry. According to The Infinite Dial 2019, 50% of Americans age 12 and older have listened to an audiobook. This huge growth can be partly attributed to increased listening in cars, which surpassed the home as the #1 audiobook listening location in the 2019 survey. Smart speaker proliferation also bodes well for future listening growth and more mainstream listening.
