Back Office Energy Trading Conference Set for March 17-18, 2011
Online, February 24, 2011 (Newswire.com) - marcus evans' 4th Annual Optimizing Operational Efficiency in the Energy Trading Market Conference will be held in Houston, Texas, March 17-18, 2011 at the Hilton Houston Post Oak. The event will bring together senior executives in Back Office, Energy Operations and Commodities Operations to discuss how energy companies and investment banks can comply with critical CFTC regulatory reforms while achieving back office operational efficiency.
With the CFTC rulemaking process well under way, market participants are preparing for new regulations that will drastically alter the energy trading landscape. Numerous reforms, including position limits, clearing and reporting requirements, will critically affect the back office, which continues to grapple with optimizing operational efficiency for all types of energy trades. In addition to compliance issues, this event will allow attendees to discuss key challenges around back office operations, including straight through processing, integrating IT systems, negotiating without a master agreement and improving front to back office operational efficiencies.
The conference's keynote speaker is CFTC Commissioner Bart Chilton. Chilton has served as the CFTC's Chairman of the Energy and Environmental Markets Advisory Committee. His career spans 25 years in government service: working on Capitol Hill in the House of Representatives and the Senate, and serving in the Executive Branch during the Clinton, Bush and Obama Administrations. He will speak on "The CFTC Perspective: Examining Developments Around OTC Derivatives Regulatory Reform".
Delegates who attended previous conferences had positive feedback from the event. A Director of Finance at Ontario Power Generation said, "It was a valuable conference, great networking opportunity, great practice forums, process improvement and opportunity." A Manager of Commodity Trading Financial Support at Dominion Resources was also impressed with the specific focus on the back office, "Good speakers, I appreciate a conference devoted to back office issues".
This year's conference chairperson is Daniel Hatter, Manager of Energy Operations and US Applications Support at Traditional Financial Services. He will speak on "Effectively Leveraging Technology to Increase Automation and Enable Straight Through Processing". Other key speakers include Phil Culbert at Deutsche Bank, Michael Sullivan at American Electric Power Company, Inc., Mark Stultz at BP Energy and Lorena Tavlarios at Con Edison.
marcus evans invites Back Office professionals to join in this cutting-edge, peer-to-peer conference that examines best practices in the back office energy trading industry. In addition to two days of conference sessions, attendees will have extensive networking opportunities with their peers.
