Birdy Set To Fly High And Take On The UK Top 40, After Winning Competition In 2008!

Birdy is set to fly high and take on the UK top 40, just two years after winning the prestigious singing competition.

When Jasmine Van Den Bogaerde or Birdy came up against 10,000 hopeful solo artists, she was just 12 years of age, dreaming of becoming a star and sharing her music with the world.

After sweeping through auditions, regional finals and area finals, she made it to the Grand National Final and won - proving that she had something special. Since taking the title Birdy has continued to work hard on her music and has just been championed by the Radio One team, including Fearne Cotton and Edith Bowman, paving the way for her to become the next big teen sensation.

Events Director for Open Mic UK said: " When we first saw Birdy, it was obvious that she had a rare talent - for someone so young she had maturity beyond her years and I'm delighted that we were able to give her help to take the first steps towards what I'm sure will be a fantastically successful career.

"This is exactly what Open Mic UK is all about- finding talent and helping people hone their skills and stand out from the crowd!"
