Bluegrass Festival To Make Debut At New Venue In Floyd County
Online, May 9, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Chantilly Farm is 101 acres on Franklin Pike in Floyd County, now being developed by LCF Group as a venue for outdoor special events. The farm is located 6 miles from downtown Floyd, and is in close proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Crooked Road Music Trail.
Jason Gallimore is lead promoter for Festival Farm Productions and head of marketing; "We've set out to provide a venue for a range of outdoor events including concerts, festivals, community events, weddings and almost anything else you can think of. Our goal is to maintain a primary focus on events that showcase the amazing cultural heritage that we have here in the Blue Ridge as well as finding new ways that we can support local businesses, artists and musicians."
Chantilly Farm is appropriate as a venue for so many different types of events due to its location, adequate parking and amenities for even large events including; several natural amphitheaters on the property and underground electric power with 200-amp and 300-amp service. Future improvements will include added trails, equestrian facilities and camping areas.
On May 28, the 1st Annual Bluegrass & BBQ Festival will be the held at Chantilly Farm. The festival will be a showcase of local talent and a family friendly event. A number of local arts and craft vendors will be present, with BBQ being provided by Galax Smokehouse, Buffalo&More, and Bootleg BBQ.
Headlining the music for this year's festival will be Floyd County native and rising Bluegrass star Ashlee Blankenship and Blades of Blue. Other local musical talent will include Janet Turner, BCR featuring Bernie Coveney, Mike Mitchell Trio, and students of the Floyd Music School. There will be games for children, kite flying, hayrides and an antique tractor show.
"The outpouring of support from people in the community has been tremendous. People really seem to be excited about what we're doing with Chantilly Farm and are anxious to be a part of it. We're looking forward to this first festival to set the tone for what is to come", said David Larsen, managing owner of the LCF Group.
