Recent publication 'L'art de la decoupe' by Jean-Charles Trebbi, includes images of the artist's craft in wood and paper.

Local artist Lizzie Thomas has recently had images of her work included in the newly published book 'L'art de la decoupe' by Jean-Charles Trebbi. The book is an innovative collection of work by artists using delicate cutting techniques.

Paper cutting is known to have its roots in China and has come to exist sometime after the invention of paper in 100BC. The art has evolved and developed into unique variations across different cultures, adopting specific styles. This art form has continued to thrive and evolve during its 2000 years of history to date.

Lizzie Thomas uses the method of paper cutting in order to explore and express narrative, myth and metaphor. Her interest is largely inspired by fairytales and folklore and their use of symbols as well as the use of wood and paper in Japanese spiritual life.

The Brighton artist, is passionate about creating unique art work which can be enjoyed in homes and offices. Her participation in 'L'art de la decoupe' by Jean-Charles Trebbi shows her unique style and captures her imaginative and original ideas. The publication also demonstrates her craft and skill in this fantastic and delicate medium.

Lizzie Thomas continues to explore and develop her craft and is excited to be a part of such a dynamic publication:

"I am very happy to be included in such a wonderful publication. I admire Jean-Charles' eclectic eye. He has brought together an intriguing collection of cut work that has very much inspired me."

As well as paper cutting Lizzie Thomas crates and sells 2D and 3D art work in wood as well as printing. She also runs art workshops for children and adults to share her craft. The local artist is available for customer specific commissions, such as paper installations.
