Chicago Attorney Jeffery M. Leving Joins President Obama's Fatherhood & Mentoring Initiative

Mr. Leving has joined President Obama in his Fatherhood and Mentoring Initiative, where he'll lend his extensive expertise and knowledge to help renew our country's commitment to family and community.

CHICAGO, IL, July 14, 2010 - In June, President Obama announced his new fatherhood initiative in Washington, DC. As Chairman of the Illinois Council on Responsible Fatherhood and a fervent fathers' rights advocate, Jeffery Leving applauded the President for being persistent with keeping the importance of responsible fatherhood in the national conversation.

"I have been working for 30 years to ensure that fathers are not disenfranchised from their children by a gender biased court system. It's refreshing to see someone in Washington who understands father absence is a critical social issue that needs to be addressed for the sake & welfare of our children," Leving said.

Mr. Leving has joined President Obama in his Fatherhood and Mentoring Initiative, where he'll lend his extensive expertise and knowledge to help renew our country's commitment to family and community.

"President Obama knows firsthand about father absence, but he was fortunate to have a support system that most fatherless children don't have," Mr. Leving said. "Children without a father are twice as likely to drop out of school, 50-100% more likely to abuse drugs and alcohol, and 20 times more likely to end up behind bars!"
