Children Without Borders Elects Greenstein As Executive Director
Online, May 27, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Milton, Mass. (May 27, 2010) - Children Without Borders, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing medical care to children and health education to families in underserved countries, announces its first Executive Director, Megan Greenstein. The charity's Executive Committee elected Greenstein to the position on May 12, 2010. Greenstein's position is effective immediately.
A former member of the Children Without Borders' Executive Committee, Greenstein will now work closely with and report to the Executive Committee. Greenstein's responsibilities will be primarily U.S. based with some involvement in Costa Rica. Her initial objectives will include outlining the organization's goals for the next 18 months and beyond.
"I am blessed and lucky to have the opportunity to devote my time to such a worthy organization like Children Without Borders," said Greenstein. "The mission of providing life saving medical care and health education to children in need is a cause that is near and dear to my heart. My goal is to help this charity become an international force in treating and preventing childhood disease and death."
Greenstein is also the President of PharmaLogics Recruiting, a national executive search firm focused exclusively in the Life Science industry, and has more than 15 years of recruiting experience in the bio-pharmaceutical industry. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina, and is pursuing her master's in Public Health at Tufts University Medical School in Boston, Mass. Greenstein currently resides in Duxbury, Mass.
"Megan is a well-connected and charismatic professional who has been key in guiding our modest organization out of the fundraising dark ages and allowing us to move forward," said Dr. George Whitelaw, founder and president of Children Without Borders. "With three permanent clinics in San Jose, and a fourth in development, we will rely on Megan's unparalleled enthusiasm and keen understanding of our organization to help us expand our operations, develop programs and implement initiatives that will enable us to help child at a time."
Within the last two years, Children Without Borders tripled its number of sustainable health care clinics in the suburbs of San Jose, Costa Rica, and joined forces with local and international non-profit organizations with similar goals. In addition to providing pediatric primary care, the charity now offers some psychological services, eye care, dental care and daytime child care. It also works with local health care facilities in Costa Rica to refer serious medical cases for specialized treatment. To date, Children Without Borders has helped thousands of children and families receive medical care and health education.
