Codal Builds for Beacons and IoT

The forefront of The Internet of Things is here at our doorstep. Bluetooth enabled beacons are receivers that interact with a mobile application on a user's device. Soon, these devices are going to be everywhere and they will change the way in which we interact with the world. One of the major functions developers put out there with beacons include geofencing, which creates a type of "infacility" map in which if a user passes a beacon, relevant content will be pushed to the user.

Codal is a fullstack UX design and development agency that recently developed an application for grocery stores, called Omnichannel Digital. It is a white labeled application that takes the shopping experience to a different level. When inside a store, the user will see a live map of all their goods as well as receive alerts on items they have preset. A push notification will be sent as the user approaches an item that they have referenced as a favorite, or have added the item to their grocery list. The content in the push notification can be anything from a reminder, a promotion, or a recipe.

Users now have a more interactive shopping experience while shopping instore, and they can now optimize their literal store navigation a lot more easily. Over and over again shoppers will roam the aisles looking for a specific product. Now, beacons will help locate the user, and locate the items that they are looking for.

Beacons are just one type of hardware integration that has hopped on the innovative and emerging internet of things or 'IoT' market. This technology will soon be a staple in retail, automotive, education, public transportation, and any industry where automated communication improves growth. From keyless entry, to automated "clocking in," to instore dynamic maps, beacons will serve to address problems that exist invenue and instore.
