Commdex Awarded Fiber-Optic Network Contract From the Department of Veteran Affairs
Atlanta, GA, April 25, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Commdex has been awarded a major contract by the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) to provide engineering and technical related services for the implementation of a fiber-optic network interconnecting two major VA facilities in Augusta, Georgia. This latest award further distinguishes Commdex as a premiere provider of information technology (IT) solutions for the federal government space.
The mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Information and Technology (OI&T), Service Delivery and Engineering is to provide benefits and services to Veterans of the United States. IT services that are of high quality, effective, and efficient are critical in order for the VA to meet its goals and execute its mission. Under this contract, Commdex is responsible for the management of voice and communications services, which includes the implementation of an underground point-to-point fiber-optic network directly connecting the Augusta Uptown VAMC facility to the Downtown VAMC facility, specifically designed to support the VA’s mission requirements and tested to ensure that critical data can successfully pass via the connection. Commdex will then assure effective maintenance of the system by providing a customer service center (CSC) help desk with 24/7/365 live support for quick response and resolution to any outages or fiber concerns.

The contract’s period of performance runs 12 months, with four 12-month option periods to be exercised at the Government’s discretion.
