Coworker, "The Tripadvisor of Coworking Spaces," Launches Partnership With NomadList
Singapore, June 28, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Coworker, a leading global community powered platform for coworking spaces, is bringing coworking to a wider audience after announcing its new partnership with the digital nomad community portal, NomadList.
As of today, Coworker is powering the “Where to Work” sections on NomadList’s city pages, connecting digital nomads with coworking spaces and the communities that cowork there.
Touted as the “innovation to watch” by the Financial Times upon its launch in November 2015, Coworker was created by two friends that struggled to find a good coworking space when they spent a month in Hong Kong in July that year.
“We wasted so much time on Google and on the ground trying to find the coworking space with the most active tech and startup community in Hong Kong when we first arrived. In the end we went with a friend’s recommendation that ended up being great, but it bugged us that there wasn’t a 'Tripadvisor for coworking spaces' where we could easily see people’s recommendations and reviews online. So we decided to solve our own problem and build it,” explained Leanne Beesley, co-founder of Coworker.
With almost 2000 coworking spaces across over 700 cities worldwide (including Afghanistan’s first coworking space), Coworker’s global coverage sets it apart from other websites that connect people with flexible workspaces.
“Also Coworker is firmly focused on coworking spaces, not shared office spaces. It’s the people running and coworking at these spaces that make them special, and community is something that a typical shared office space simply doesn’t have. We wanted to create the first platform out there specifically to help people find real coworking spaces,” said Leanne.
With the two founders currently based at the popular coworking space Impact Hub in Singapore and a global team working remotely from 8 different countries, Coworker is on a mission to connect people with coworking spaces around the world.
By partnering with NomadList, described by The Next Web as “a guide to the best cities for digital nomads and perpetual travelers” and by Forbes as "an incredibly innovative tool for digital nomads (..) indicative of the larger nomadic trend,” Coworker brings additional awareness of coworking spaces to the upwardly mobile digital nomad community.
“We’re really excited to launch this partnership with NomadList because our values are so aligned,” revealed Leanne. “As a location independent entrepreneur myself, I signed up to NomadList when it first launched in 2014 with the #Nomads Slack channel, so experienced first hand the huge value it provides to the digital nomad community. Having the opportunity to power NomadList’s ‘Where to Work’ maps through our API, and help digital nomads avoid the loneliness that comes with working alone at cafes by connecting them with awesome coworking spaces, fits into our mission perfectly.”
