'Data-Centric AI' to Be Defined by the Community Itself
'Data-Centric AI Community' launched a contest to find the best definition for 'Data-Centric AI'. Winner takes $500 home.
SEATTLE, April 19, 2022 (Newswire.com) - Nearly a year later, after Andrew Ng spoke about the concept of data-centric AI, with competitions and workshops conducted globally, a peer-learning community with expert guidance was the need of the data-centric movement.
Thus, the tech start-up YData, launched the "Data-Centric AI Community," aiming to help data scientists improve the quality of their datasets, thereby making their AI models better.
"We understand that a community driving the paradigm shift to data-centric AI is essential. We aim to focus on data profiling, synthetic data, and data labelling, the most significant pain points for data scientists," states YData co-founder Gonçalo Martins Ribeiro.
"We're overwhelmed with the excellent response to the community launch. We're glad that more than 500 data experts have already joined and are engaging in meaningful data-centric conversations," says Ribeiro.
Due to being a new and evolving concept, experts have defined 'data-centric AI" based on their experiences and use-cases. The Data-Centric AI Community believes that it's the member's responsibility to find the most suitable definition for the concept, launching a contest within the community with $500 prize money to be won.
The competition is exclusive to the members of the Data-Centric AI community, which is free to join, and members are requested to fill out a form with their best definitions to enter the competition. The winner would be chosen by a combination of community voting and jury evaluation.
"We plan to host many meaningful competitions like this within the community, which drives engagement while adding value to the members in the movement," says Ribeiro. He further spoke about the future plans for the Data-Centric AI community.
The community aims to break down barriers for data science teams, researchers, and beginner learners and create a friendly place where data quality issues are discussed and solved.
