Delta Energy & Communications Announces Jon Wellinghoff as New Member of Its Board of Directors

Mr. Wellinghoff brings extensive governmental and senior leadership experience across international energy policy and distributed energy resources to the Delta team.

Delta Energy & Communications, a network, smart grid and big data company focused on providing connectivity around the globe, today announced that Jon Wellinghoff has joined the Delta Board of Directors.

Jon Wellinghoff is known for his international expertise and thought leadership in energy policy, electric markets and the interface of disruptive energy systems with traditional utility structures. His firm, Grid Policy, Inc., is dedicated to furthering the deployment of and investment in clean sustainable distributed energy resources (DERs). Jon works to remove regulatory, policy, and institutional barriers to the widespread adoption of cost-effective DER technologies and systems, assisting companies, governments, and consumers who market and/or operate such resources. In 2006, Jon received his first of two Presidential appointments to serve as a Commissioner on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and was FERC’s longest-serving Chairman (2009-2013). During his FERC tenure, he led efforts to make the U.S. power system cleaner and more efficient by promoting and integrating renewable energy, demand response, energy efficiency and storage.

"I am excited about joining the Delta Energy & Communications’ Board," stated Jon Wellinghoff. "I look forward to working alongside my fellow Board members and company management to advance truly innovative technology that will give utilities around the world better insight into their networks.”

Delta’s distinctive approach to the utility market and grid modernization through its DSGN™—a pioneering, Wi-Fi-based, wireless wide area network (WWAN) smart-grid that delivers Wi-Fi connectivity to the populations served by utilities, and creates opportunities for IoT engagement by telecommunications partners and OEMs—aligns perfectly with both our customers and our partners to lead the industry in transforming business with new IoT solutions. Unlike solutions offered by other providers, the DSGNaddresses true IoT by establishing the same foundational network used by millions across the globe with legacy digital products.

“We are pleased to welcome Jon to Delta’s Board of Directors,” said Scott M. Foster, President and CEO of Delta Energy & Communications. “As a highly respected official with valuable energy industry experience, we look forward to Jon’s expert direction and assistance in guiding our objectives to bring our breakthrough technology towards commercialization.”
