Online, January 18, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The Tea Tasting Festival is held every year in February, specifically in the Rak Thai village within Mae Hong Son. The village is famous for its tea production and this is primarily due to its large number of Chinese refugee inhabitants.

The refugees were granted land by the Thai government after fleeing China from Communist rule in 1949. Residents now use the area to grow different kinds of tea and visitors during the festival can taste the popular U-long tea along with many other varieties.

During the festival shows will feature demonstrations on how to brew and pour the perfect cup of tea and tea tasting sessions will run throughout the day where visitors can purchase any of the samples.
