DirectRooms.com - Taste Some of Thailand's Finest Tea in Mae Hong Son

DirectRooms.com announces that the Thai city of Mae Hong Son will be putting on a festival featuring the best grown tea from the area which is rated as some of the best in Thailand

The Tea Tasting Festival is held every year in February, specifically in the Rak Thai village within Mae Hong Son. The village is famous for its tea production and this is primarily due to its large number of Chinese refugee inhabitants.

The refugees were granted land by the Thai government after fleeing China from Communist rule in 1949. Residents now use the area to grow different kinds of tea and visitors during the festival can taste the popular U-long tea along with many other varieties.

During the festival shows will feature demonstrations on how to brew and pour the perfect cup of tea and tea tasting sessions will run throughout the day where visitors can purchase any of the samples.

Along with the tea tasting people will be performing cultural shows featuring traditional dances and music performed live by the local artists. Food stools are also setting up all around the event offering bowls of home made delicacies such as freshly caught fish and curried chicken.

With the influx of tourists expected to head to the city to try one of the region's most famous exports, finding available hotels in Mae Hong Son is set to be more difficult during the festival.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "Mae Hong Son is one of Northern Thailand's most popular destinations and the festival will only increase hotel bookings. People should book rooms early online if planning on visiting the festival."
