DMV International Film Festival
"Festival for the People" When: June 25-30 2010 Where: DC, MD, VA Website: www.dmviff.com
Online, March 17, 2010 (Newswire.com) - DMV International Film Festival is a 5 day screening of original films from local and international filmmakers. What sets the DMVIFF apart from all other film festivals in the area is the attention and focus in bridging the original talents of the area with the international audience. All films entered in the festival must encompass the DMV area by either being filmed here or the filmmaker being born in the area. The focus of the event is to expand the audience and perception of film festivals in the area. Giving a platform to a under served community of film makers and artists.
The creator of DMVIFF is a internationally studied Film maker, Tanecia Britt who made her fist feature film "School without Walls" in the U.K. Her first feature film was submitted and highly reviewed in several film festivals nationally and internationally. Upon her return to the U.S. and home Washington D.C., she saw a void in the international film market. Tanecia also questioned the reasons as to why her film community peers felt a disconnect from the film festivals already being held in the area.
DMVIFF is in its inaugural year. To begin we are having several fundraising events allowing the public to meet the creator and understand the process of the film festival. Follow our website to get the updated happenings of the festival and its activites. Rules of submission are listed on the site. www.dmviff.com Our blog: Dmvfilmfest.ning.com Friend us on Facebook DMV InternationalFilmFestival and Follow us on Twitter @DMVfilmfest
