Doctors Without Borders Recognized At Auction And Fund Raising Event

Online, May 27, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Doctors Without Borders, a volunteer group of physicians that devote their time aiding families overseas during a disaster, will be honored at Portland's Elements Glass Studio on Monday, May 30, 2011 with the support from the collaborating artists of Transcensions, A personal Journey Through Art. Charles Lowrie and Michael Angelo Menconi will be creating a special and original glass sculpture worth well over $20,000 to honor Doctors Without Borders to be auctioned to the highest bidder, donating 100 percent of the proceeds to the Foundation. The artists hope to not only raise money but also awareness for the doctors to obtain medicine and supplies for the sick and injured overseas.

The volunteer physician organization is comprised of doctors from all over the world who travel to nearly 60 countries to aid people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disaster.
