DreamIt Ventures Announces Winter 2012 Austin Class

Entrepreneurs from both sides the Atlantic share working space, resources, community, and a communal atmosphere for three months while building nine startups in Austin, TX.

Internationally known startup accelerator DreamIt Ventures launched their 2013 program calendar with the first cycle kicking off in Austin, TX. This is the first Austin-based program the accelerator has hosted.

In DreamIt style, the startups accepted to participate are comprised of world-class entrepreneurs. In total, nine companies - 31 entrepreneurs - will participate in the winter cycle. The companies include students and alumni from top institutions, including: Cal Tech, Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, Harvard, Technion Israel, USC, and UT Austin. The class is filled with team members from leading companies like Etsy, Google, Intel, Shazam, Yahoo, and WAZE. Among them are a certified pilot, a USC Entrepreneur of the Year, and a Tough Mudder. Several are second time entrepreneurs; and both the US and Israeli Armies are represented.

The 9 companies in DreamIt Austin 2013 are:
• Doccaster, Orlando, FL: Content delivery and analytics for events
• Fig Labs, Haddonfield, NJ: Cloud-based mathematical platform for engineers and scientists
• Newscastic, Albuquerque, NM: Marketplace for journalists and business-sponsored stories
• Pincam, Seoul, Korea: Video utility tool for creation of highlight video clips
• Planana, Los Angeles, CA: Social promotions for event marketers and sponsors
• Seer, New York, NY: Intelligent platform for finding and organizing information
• Stereotypes, New York, NY: Social music network
• TrendKite, Philadelphia, PA: Media dashboard reinventing media monitoring
• YEVVO, Tel Aviv, Israel: Live social video broadcasting platform

DreamIt's Austin program will take place at Capital Factory, in their coworking space at 701 Brazos St. The program kicked off on Wednesday, January 2nd and runs through March 22nd. Demo Day, an invite-only event for investors & media, will be Saturday, March 9th during SXSW at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin, TX.

DreamIt is also now accepting applications for its DreamIt Health initiative, which will run in Philadelphia from April through July. Powered by IBC and Penn Medicine, this collaboration marks the first time a leading health insurer and a leading health care provider have come together in an accelerator to deliver, with DreamIt Ventures and Venturef0rth, the resources entrepreneurs need to capitalize on emerging health care opportunities. Applications are due Friday, February 8th.
