Elkins Kalt Welcomes Two New Partners to the Firm

Los Angeles, California, July 25, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Elkins Kalt Weintraub Reuben Gartside LLP has added, as partners, Rebecca Torrey and Andrea L. Mersel.  Torrey joins the firm’s Litigation Department as a Labor and Employment law specialist.  Mersel joins Anne Kiley and Thomas Paine Dunlap as the principal partners in the firm's Family Law Department.

Elkins Kalt is a full-service firm with expertise in the practice areas of Real Estate and Finance, Land Use and Environmental, Tax, Estate Planning, Corporate, Securities, Hospitality and Leisure, Investment Advisor/Broker-Dealer, Litigation, Employment and Labor and Family Law.  Mersel is excited to work with partners with expertise in other areas of the law, recognizing that the broad areas of expertise will enable her to provide more comprehensive service than at a traditional boutique, family law practice. 

Andrea Mersel, a lawyer for 30 years with extensive trial experience in civil, as well as family law matters, brings a unique combination of courtroom experience and negotiation skills to the practice of Family Law in both Los Angeles and Orange Counties.  She earned a Bachelor of Science at the Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania, is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and was an Adjunct Professor of Law at Whittier Law School for many years.

Rebecca Torrey, who moved from a large firm, has over 25 years of experience in all aspects of Employment law, with an emphasis on defending employers in bet-the-company class action and multi-plaintiff state and federal court trials and arbitrations.  Torrey says that her new partnership has the right combination of factors to be highly successful.  “The firm is nimble and staffed with large firm veterans attracted by the entrepreneurial challenge.  I am excited to collaborate with women and men who are bright, accomplished and open-minded about new ways of running a law practice.
