Emile Hirsch claims Avatar to be his inspiration behind taking up the role of Sean in"The Darkest Hour".
Online, January 3, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The Darkest Hour was Emile Hirsch's first Sci-Fi movie since he started his movie career as an actor more than a decade ago. Hirsch, who has won the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Cast for the film Milk, said that he always wanted to do a Sci-Fi film. He owes the origin of this interest to James Cameron legendary movie Avatar.
In an interview Emile said that since the time he had seen Avatar he wanted to be a part of a sci-fi thriller, with an unusual story line. "The Darkest Hour" according to him gave him that perfect opportunity. Speaking about the director, Emile describes the experience as a great one. The infectious energy of Chris Gorak was very admirable according to him.
In the film "The Darkest Hour", Emile plays the role of a software professional called Sean. He visits Moscow for a business venture, but ultimately gets trapped in the middle of a city in the event of an alien attack along with four other survivors. Sean plays the role of a protagonist in the film and the unidentifiable electric sucking aliens are his real enemies. The film is all about the struggle of the survivors in the face of death to reach a place of safety. In this film, Emile will be seen doing some action scenes and stunts. Speaking about his experience of shooting in Moscow, Emile says that Moscow is quite an unpredictable place like the Wild West, where anything could happen within a spur of a moment.
"The Darkest Hour" opened in US theatres on 25 Dec, but failed to live up to the audience expectations. It scored a negative rating on rotten tomatoes. It is scheduled for a worldwide release on Jan 2012. This is Emile's second film in 2012, after Killer Joe. He will again be seen in Oliver Stone's crime drama "Savages" in 2012.
