Eyes Above Toronto Introduces The Latest In Blade-Free LASIK Technology At Its Laser Eye Centre In Vaughan

Eyes Above Toronto is to use the most advanced blade- free Intralase iFS technology for all LASIK eye surgeries at its laser eye centre in Vaughan, Ontario

York Region residents now have the latest 100 % blade- free LASIK technology available to them thanks to Eyes Above Toronto, which recently expanded its technology suite to include the intralase iFS (femtosecond) laser

With the introduction of the Intralase FS (femtosecond) laser technology, Dr. Mark Fava joins other leading ophthalmic surgeons across the country in offering this advanced technology which enhances the safety of the LASIK procedure and provides millions of people with potential 20/ 20 vision and beyond,

"This advanced technology represents an emerging standard of care in LASIK worldwide and patients now have the choice of blade-free LASIK with the intralase method over traditional LASIK with microkeratome blade" said Dr. Fava.

"NASA astronauts and pilots can have LASIK today because of the exclusive, validated safety and precision performance of the intralase method and we're proud to offer our patients the same advantage" added Dr. Fava.

The iFS laser offers a highly sophisticated way to prepare the eye for LASIK without a blade ever touching it and makes it possible for the corneal flap to be 100% laser created, allowing for flap customization and an individualized treatment.

With Intralase the surgeon precisely controls the firsts step of LASIK using a computer- controlled laser that delivers rapid pulses of light, a quadrillionth of a second each, to a pre-programmed depth and position within the cornea. Each pulse forms a microscopic bubble.

Just prior to the vision correction procedure, the doctor gently lifts the flap to reveal a smooth corneal bed, optimized for reshaping

The Intralase method takes about 15- 20 seconds per eye, with the entire LASIK procedure often completed in both eyes in approximately 10 minutes.

Most patients see better immediately with recovery typically lasting a few hours, followed by a few days of mild eye irritation

The iFS laser is the only FDA - approved femtosecond laser proven with more than 10 years of clinical research improving both the safety and precision of LASIK

Clinical studies have showed that more than 95% of patients treated using the intralase method have achieved faster visual recovery, fewer dry eye symptoms, and maximum flap stability- three times that of a blade created flap

Nearly four million LASIK procedures have been performed worldwide employing the intralase method which is now used in an estimated 61.1% of all LASIK Procedures

With its unsurpassed safety profile and improved outcomes for more patients, the intralase method has been among the fastest growing refractive surgical techniques worldwide as traditional microkeratome LASIK procedures continue to decline
