Food Network To Showcase Distinctive Remodelers Homer Glen Kitchen In Upcoming Show
Online, August 14, 2012 (Newswire.com) - As owner of Distinctive Remodelers, Bryan Nooner is used to receiving phone calls from homeowners eager to reinvent their living spaces. But it's not every day that Bryan gets a ring from Hollywood asking for permission to showcase one of his new kitchens on a TV show.
Bryan was recently contacted by producers of The Food Network's program "The Best Thing I Ever Made" who were looking for a snazzy gourmet kitchen where they could tape Chicago chef Graham Elliot for an upcoming episode. While he was surprised by the unexpected call, Bryan knew right away which kitchen to recommend: the one he just completed for Nick and Lisa Rodriguez in Homer Glen.
"Their kitchen was perfect for what the show was looking for. It's large, appointed with quality appliances, well-designed and loaded with eye-catching focal points," said Bryan.
A few days after Distinctive Remodelers completed an extensive renovation in the Rodriguez home-which included the kitchen - the TV episode was staged and recorded without a hitch. The episode is expected to air on a to-be-determined date in October.
While the Food Network taping was fun, it was only icing on the cake for the Rodriguez family, who are thrilled with Distinctive Remodelers' finished work. And although their new kitchen may be the centerpiece of the renovation, it was only one aspect of a major remodeling project that included the building of an addition that serves as an in-law suite for Nick's mother Josephine.
"Our goal was to provide (Josephine) with enough room to be comfortable in so that she had her own space," said Nick, who used architectural software to draw up preliminary plans that fit his vision prior to hiring Distinctive Remodelers. "We had to decide whether to go 10, 12 or 15 feet back, and ultimately we chose 15 feet to maximize as much space as possible."
Nick first learned of Distinctive Remodelers reading a newspaper article. After meeting with a handful of contractors who didn't provide the comfort level or price point he preferred, he arranged for Bryan to visit his home for an initial consultation.
"We could tell right away that (Bryan) was knowledgeable and that he knew what he was doing," said Nick. "He came up with great ideas on how to best lay things out, including the closets and kitchen island. He helped us figure everything out."
With Bryan's guidance, Nick and Lisa opted to expand their existing kitchen from 210 to 470 square feet, create a larger laundry room adjacent to the kitchen, build out a 600-square-foot in-law suite addition off the rear of the home, and dig out and implement an equal-sized new basement storage space beneath the new addition. The strategy called for removing several interior walls to grow the kitchen footprint and reconfigure the laundry area, and knocking down an exterior wall to connect the addition to the neighboring kitchen.
In the kitchen, Distinctive's crew installed custom maple cabinetry; granite countertops; a center island with a breakfast bar overhang, prep sink and pull-out garbage bin; double oven; wooden range hood; built-in microwave and other appliances; bay window; and oak flooring that runs continuously throughout the first level. The new laundry room next door features a pet washing area (for the family's two cats) beneath granite countertops.
Josephine's living space in the addition boasts a living room, bedroom with a bay window and walk-in closet, full bath and private entry. The new full basement below offers ample storage area for the entire family's needs.
Additionally, Distinctive Remodelers beefed up the property's landscaping, adding shrubs, trees and flowers around the entire home and replacing much of the sod. They also added a brick paver patio and walkway as well as a fire pit and seat walls in the back yard.
"We enjoy food in this house, and sometimes I like to make a few different meals. Now, we've got lots of space in which too cook and entertain," said Nick.
Bryan was impressed by the homeowners' level of pre-planning and due diligence prior to enlisting his services.
"Nick and Lisa had a really good sense of what they wanted to accomplish," said Bryan. "It was a very creative and successful collaboration, especially considering how much homework Nick had already done."
Lisa said the remodel was a big hit recently when the family hosted a graduation party for their oldest daughter that was attended by 45 guests.
"It was important to have the project finished before our party," said Lisa. "Bryan and his team worked hard to make sure we would meet that date. They kept everything very clean and were quick to resolve any issues that arose."
Distinctive Remodelers provides a wide range of renovation projects, including room build-outs, second-level additions, home theater room installations, basement finishing, kitchen makeovers, and roofing, siding and window replacements - with no residential job too large for the firm to tackle. Plus, all work is backed by a full warranty.
Bryan's firm draws on the built-in advantages of being a part of Distinctive Communities - a successful, established area business with 25-plus years of collective experience.
"I launched Distinctive Remodelers based in large part on growing demand from past new home buyer customers eager to upgrade and expand their existing residences," said Bryan. "We enjoy a sizeable base of contented, loyal clients from over the years who often call us for future projects. We would often receive requests and calls from many of these past purchasers who wanted to recruit us for jobs like adding a room, finishing a basement or reinventing a kitchen."
Instead of turning down these requests, Bryan founded Distinctive Remodelers, which offers partial or whole-house renovation services throughout the suburbs.
"We're familiar with these homeowners and what they're looking for," Bryan said. "Plus, we have a highly skilled crew in place that we've added to, as well as an unparalleled reputation for outstanding quality and value."
"When you hire us, you can count on courteous, knowledgeable professionals. Everyone on our team has been carefully screened, and they will treat you and your property with the utmost respect," said Bryan. "And you can rest assured that you'll get punctual responses to your questions and requests."
Best of all, he added, "you can count on the highest level of customer service from a project manager specifically assigned to your home who will supervise your job from start to finish."
