Former Lockheed Martin Information Security Officer Joins Advisory Board

Association for Data and Cyber Governance Announce Addition of Certified CISO

Steve Gilmer

The Association for Cyber and Data Governance, which provides data privacy, protection and cyber-compliance training and education to professionals in the financial services industry, has announced that Stephen Gilmer of Iowa City, Iowa, will join its advisory board effective immediately. Gilmer, a certified CISO and published cybersecurity compliance writer, joins a growing advisory group that leads thought leadership for data privacy, data protection and cyber governance.

“Steve Gilmer is a tremendous addition to the ADCG Advisory Board,” says Carlos Solari, chair of the ADCG advisory board and former VP of Cybersecurity at Bell Labs and Chief Information Officer in the White House under George W. Bush. “He is a respected voice in our field and is well-versed in devising solutions for helping business leaders bridge the gap between the c-suite, GRC and cybersecurity technology professionals in order to mitigate the ever-increasing threat of cyberattacks and data breaches.”

With more than 25 years of experience in the cybersecurity field, including as an information security officer for Sikorsky Aircraft and its parent company, Lockheed Martin, Gilmer is a valuable ally in ADCG’s mission to influence the future of governance of data privacy, protection, and cyber-risk, especially within financial institutions. As a Six Sigma Black Belt, Gilmer has designed and implemented sensitive data and IP security control programs, shaped security policy at the national level, and has built and led the cybersecurity components required of multi-billion dollar government contracts. He also speaks at global cybersecurity conferences, publishes articles on the business necessity of proactive cyber-risk management, and conducts cybersecurity training for corporate leadership.

“I am excited to join such a distinguished group of colleagues with deep knowledge of the financial, cybersecurity and educational sectors,” says Gilmer. “I’m passionate about making value and trust a core part of an organization’s executive mission and cultural DNA. For any business to innovate, grow, and deliver value, it must make cybersecurity an integral part of its mission; the Association for Data and Cyber Governance helps organizations do just that.”
