Mercy Motivates completed her participation as a cast member in the highly popular SyFy Network reality show "Opposite Worlds." Mercy, 25 at the time, ignited a social media storm each week as a fun, spirited and outspoken cast member. Yet few, if any, in her personal life ever knew of Mercy's devastating life-long struggle with depression.

"Back in 2018, I had two choices: to give in to the suicidal thoughts I had battled severely for almost a decade OR to create something I have always desperately needed since I was a child. Luckily, I chose to succeed and not succumb and, by doing so, created Mercy Motivates in hopes of removing the toxic stigma that currently plagues those who suffer. It took me 20 years to build my courage but I now make it my daily mission to bring mental health awareness to the forefront, including implementing viable long-standing mental health awareness programs at companies big and small. Depression affects hundreds of millions of people across the globe and does not discriminate by age, race or gender. Therefore, it is imperative that I continue to use my voice and platform — not only to advocate for those silently suffering, but to help save lives because suicide is the leading most preventable tragedy. I want people to know it's okay to not be okay and depression, or any form of mental health, is too serious an illness to be forced to suffer in silence any longer. Ultimately, out of a dark place came something positive — a way for me to help myself while helping others," says Mercy, who currently resides in California.

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Mercy Motivates moved to the U.S. with her adoptive family at the age of 5. She quickly learned English and excelled in academics throughout her educational tenure. Her naturally charismatic personality comes from her having lived on two different continents, two different countries, six different states, and several different cities early on. Although she has faced various trauma consecutively since she was a child, Mercy Motivates' passion for education and volunteerism never seized. It, in fact, inspired her to establish two academic scholarships for other hardworking students, all while attending her collegiate studies.

Along with a successful launch of "Marla The Misfit," Mercy is currently focused on hosting a Ted Talk along with various other speaking engagements to continue her global mental health advocacy. "Marla The Misfit," exclusively on Amazon, takes readers through an incredible journey of a young girl's self-discovery as she finds out what it's like to leave her homeland and venture to America. Through the eyes of an adolescent girl, readers can truly be inspired by her strength, resiliency, and incredible love of life, despite facing several traumatic events.
