Globe University Student Mary Medd Goes Above and Beyond to Benefit Orphan Animal Rescue and Sanctuary
Mary Medd collected over $1000 in donations for the Orphan Animal Rescue and Sanctuary's 2nd annual Purple Paw Parade that will take place Saturday, June 11, 2011.
Online, June 7, 2011 (Newswire.com) - APPLETON, WI-Globe University student Mary Medd felt compelled to help raise donations for the Orphan Animal Rescue and Sanctuary. So much so, that she collected over $1000 in donations, as well as helped coordinate Globe University's Bake Sale which raised $215 for the Purple Paw Parade pledge.
The donation will benefit the Orphan Animal Rescue and Sanctuary's 2nd annual Purple Paw Parade that will take place Saturday, June 11, 2011. Medd joins 6 others that will represent Globe University on Saturday and present more than $1700 to the OARS.
Medd, a student in the Veterinary Technician program at Globe University, gathered donated baked goods from Simple Simon bakery and pizza from local stores to sell on campus. She also made homemade pet treats to give away as a 'thank you' to those who bought food items.
Globe University-Appleton Veterinary Technology Program Chair Rebecca Lange noted that Medd went above and beyond to raise money for the animals at OARS.
"She took time out of her own already busy schedule to advocate and raise an unbelievable amount of money for the group," Lange said. "She was so passionate about helping the animals, which really showed her caring personality. I am very proud of her as a student and a future Veterinary Technician."
Medd's efforts are recognized by Globe University-Appleton as the most any single student has raised to benefit a nonprofit animal rescue.
