GTT Consolidates McAllen Operations at MDC's MCA2 Data Center
Global Managed Networking and Security Provider anchors its U.S.-Mexico border presence at MDC's interconnection hub in McAllen.
MCALLEN, Texas, July 7, 2026 (Newswire.com) - MDC Data Centers has announced that GTT Communications Inc., a leading networking and security as a service provider for multinational organizations, has consolidated its McAllen operations in MDC's purpose-built, carrier-neutral facility, MCA2, at 422 S. 11th Street. This moves GTT's McAllen border infrastructure into the core of the most interconnected environment on the U.S.-Mexico border and completes its migration from MDC's legacy site at Chase Building.
At MCA2, GTT's backbone connects directly to other Tier-1 carriers, content providers, cloud platforms, MEX-IX and diverse international fiber crossings concentrated at the facility. For GTT, that concentration translates into shorter paths between the U.S. and Mexico and bridging into South America, more peering options within a single environment, and a more resilient architecture on the routes the company's enterprise and wholesale customers depend upon. The hub gravity of MCA2 which has drawn every major Mexican network in the market to a single location, is now working to GTT's advantage at the routing layer.
"By consolidating our network infrastructure within MDC's MCA2 facility, we are strengthening the performance and resilience our enterprise customers and wholesale partners depend on across this critical corridor. MDC has been a trusted partner in building our presence along the border for over a decade, and this milestone reflects our continued investment in a highly connected ecosystem that enables our customers to scale with confidence," said Joan Logan, President Americas, GTT.
"We're excited to welcome GTT, one of the largest internet backbone operators in the world, to MCA2 because we clearly see the benefit. When a Tier 1 network of that scale consolidates here, the ecosystem gets denser and the interconnection options multiply for every operator already in the building. That's how hub gravity works-each arrival compounds the value for everyone here," said Juan Salazar, CEO, MDC Data Centers.
Across its footprint, GTT offers wholesalers and enterprises a range of networking and security services with global reach, including IP Transit, Dedicated Internet Access and Managed DDoS Protection. Since 2024, GTT has also operated a point of presence (PoP) at MDC's facility in Laredo, Texas, which extends its Tier 1 backbone and adds redundancy and capacity on cross-border routes. As cross-border demand continues to grow along the corridor, GTT is well-positioned to serve its customers from the infrastructure where U.S. and Mexican networks converge. MDC remains a trusted, neutral partner in enabling that reach, supporting GTT in providing long-term value for the companies' joint global customers.
