Hamburg Group Takes Pride in a Stellar Month of Drug Prevention

Hamburg, Germany, July 4, 2016 (Newswire.com) - As in any other major metropolis, drugs are a serious problem in Hamburg. And according to the 2016 EU Drug Trafficking Report of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), the city is one of the key entry points of cocaine into Europe.

The volunteers of the Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life Association of the Church of Scientology Hamburg chose to carry out an all-out assault on drug abuse and addiction in June as the month selected by the United Nations for its International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.  But it is also in June that the Hamburg Church celebrates its anniversary in the city.

“Our volunteers are committed to helping the city deal with the drug problem and as this year was our 43rd anniversary, we set a target of distributing 43,000 copies of The Truth About Drugs booklet in our anniversary month,” said the group’s coordinator. They far surpassed that target and he added, “I am incredibly proud of the performance of each of our group members.”

The Church of Scientology Hamburg also held a drug prevention open house and workshop on International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to introduce the community to The Truth About Drugs initiative and the booklets, videos, lesson plans and activities guide that are part of the program’s Education Package.

The Truth About Drugs provides factual information on what drugs are and what they do, to help people make self-determined decisions to live drug-free.

Scientologists on six continents work in their communities throughout the year to empower others with the truth about drugs. The Church and its members are dedicated to eradicating drug abuse through education.
