SkillSource announces its inclusion in the 2009 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) and the Combined Virginia Campaign (CVC). SkillSource provides workforce development services to job seekers in Fairfax, Loudon, and Prince William counties.

The SkillSource Group, Inc., the non-profit arm of the Northern Virginia Workforce Investment Board (NVWIB), announced its inclusion as a charity in the 2009 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) of the National Capital Area and the Combined Virginia Campaign (CVC). These workplace-giving programs promote and support philanthropy by providing Federal and State employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for those within their community.

Janet Samuelson, the Chairman of the SkillSource Group, Inc. noted: "SkillSource is very excited to be approved as a charity for the 2009 campaigns for both the CFC and CVC. Donations made to SkillSource will assist us in providing additional support and guidance to the thousands of job seekers utilizing the Northern Virginia SkillSource Centers and through our multiple workforce and training initiatives. We believe it is so important to keep Northern Virginia residents well trained and employed throughout our region. The Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFC) is the local campaign for Federal employees in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Federal civilian and military donors support eligible charities during the campaign season from September 1st to December 15th through contributions via payroll deductions, online contributions and, e-Check electronic bank transactions. In 2008, the CFC generated more than $62.7 million in pledges through the collective contributions of nearly 150,000 civilian and military Federal employees who live in the Washington metropolitan region. The Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC) is the workplace giving program for State employees. Since 1997, employees have raised over $25 million for eligible charities. State employees are able to donate during the campaign season from October 1st to November 30th through payroll deductions, cash or check contributions, and stock or credit card gifts. Employees may allocate donations to specific charities, to all charities in their part of the state, or to be divided amongst all of the charities in the campaign. SkillSource's CVC number is #3312.

SkillSource oversees the Northern Virginia Workforce System and serves more than 20,000 businesses and over 1.8 million residents within the counties of Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William and the cities of Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas and Manassas Park.
