High-Resolution, Alexa-Ready Display From Advanced Network Devices Makes Mass Notification Interactive, Hands-Free

Full HD automotive-grade LCD -- powered only by a simple network cable -- responds to Alexa

Teachers returning to classrooms this fall are finding the usual challenges waiting for them just as they left them, including managing the classroom, engaging students, and all-too-common active shooter drills. Many schools, like Birdville ISD in Texas, have deployed a combination of security protocols and network devices to broadcast crucial emergency information, and even lock down a school in one second. Knowing these IP display devices from Advanced Network Devices (ANetD) remain always ready for action, teachers can focus on the important work of education. However, with the launch of a new HD IP Display supporting full-color image files, teachers may find the classroom paging, intercom, and mass notification device now playing a more interactive support role in engaging the class.

The 1920 x 720 automotive-grade display enables access to full-color high-resolution images, as well as smooth-scrolling text messaging to accompany audio from the attached speaker. The included RGB flasher can provide extra visual notification. Brian Donahoe, President of Digital Design Corporation, ANetD’s parent company, emphasizes that “it’s got the same number of pixels as your big-screen 50-inch home television, except compressed into the 12-inch space. It’s a powerful display.” Schools can take advantage of the high-quality LCD screen by streaming social media Instagram posts or helping visitors find their way with detailed maps. A doctor can even share the latest detailed scan with a patient.

As part of expanding the display devices into the HD sphere, the design team wanted to empower teachers and healthcare professionals to interact directly with their room devices. So, as part of a summer project, college-bound tech-minded interns of ANetD worked with their assigned mentor, a senior ANetD staff engineer, to make the company’s full line of displays compatible with Amazon Alexa. As a result, healthcare staff in a sterile environment can launch a hands-free code alert and teachers can leverage their device to manage or engage students with interactive tools like timers, Quizlet, Kahoot, and other resources. And, should a worst-case scenario interrupt a lesson, the “always-ready” HD IP Display can deliver critical updates and life-saving instructions.

With this new device, Advanced Network Devices continues to lead the mass notification industry with innovations that empower facilities with a more personal, interactive, full-featured visual endpoint that can also keep a facility informed and safe. Designed and made in the USA with expert engineering and solid construction, ANetD devices are built to last. The company will demonstrate the HD IP Display this week in booth 1992 at the GSX show at Chicago's McCormick Place.
