Huge Increase In Business For Car Rental Companies From Rugby World Cup 2011

Car rental companies in New Zealand are reporting increases in profits after the rugby world cup.

New Zealand rental car companies are reporting an increase in spending of around 30% as a result of the Rugby World Cup, in marked contrast to the retail industry which has been whining of stagnant earnings statistics.

The car hire industry isn't the only sector enjoying increased cashflow: foreign credit card spending as a whole was up a total of 32.5%, or $12 million, in the first 10 days of the World Cup compared with the same period a year ago. This trend was labelled "Huge" by Paymark, a company that deals with majority of digital transactions in New Zealand.

Many car hire firms are reporting a 30% increase during the first ten days of the Rugby World Cup, along with the whole business saw a huge sales increase of an added $2.1 million in year-on-year spending. The NZ locations that saw the biggest increases were the main centers that hosted games, and airport depots saw further increases as tourists entered the country from overseas.

As an extra advantage, there's a solid chance that profits will scale even higher than these reported numbers. This is because the majority of hire car companies require deposits to be paid off at the time of booking, which may be months in advance. The same is true of 'call out fees', required when cars are delivered to travellers (usually at the airport) due to flight arrival times which occur outside normal business hours. Many clients will also elect to settle the total amount of the hire to guarantee they obtain the hire car they need.

A lot of industry qualified personnel currently have predicted that income will carry on to stream in lengthy soon after the tournament has finished, as tourists from overseas stay longer to travel New Zealand in their rental auto. That said though, some tourists staying in major centers like Auckland or Wellington may be able to see the sights and sounds with public transport only, and may not require a personal vehicle. The enormous number of people today that have utilized Auckland's 'fan trail' to get from the CBD to Eden Park is proof of this.

On the other hand, a lot of vacationers have plans for an extended stay, enabling them to soak up some of the gorgeous scenery and attractions New Zealand provides. And with trains and buses restricted to the main centers, getting your own private transport is essential for independently journeying the country side.
