A group of indie comic artists and writers are excited to announce the launch of Indie Comics Creator Con (IC3), a groundbreaking annual comic book convention dedicated to creators and supporters of independent art and ideas. The event aims to amplify the voices, vision, and passion driving new art, new concepts, and unique sensibilities within the comic book medium.

A Comic Con Like No Other

IC3, set to take place on March 9, 2024, at Southern Connecticut State University, will serve as a dynamic forum, marketplace, touchstone, and summit for creators and fans alike. Unlike traditional conventions that often revolve around well-established corporate-owned properties, IC3 is committed to providing a space for newer, purely creator-driven comics to shine.

Matthew Sardo, a Connecticut native with more than 15 years of experience in the industry, leads IC3 as the Convention Director. He envisions IC3 as more than just a gathering; it's a neighborhood block party where attendees will feel an immediate sense of camaraderie and friendship.

"We are in the golden age of self-published comics, and the Indie Comics Creator Con is a direct celebration of that," said Sardo. "I'm so excited to bring such a diverse group of people together to celebrate independent comics and creators. This show is going to have a vibe like no other."

Supporting Independent Creators

The launch is being supported by a generous Kickstarter campaign, which aims to make this visionary event an accessible reality. Supporters will enjoy exclusive benefits, including discounted tickets; limited-edition convention posters by artists such as Tony McMillen, Pat Rooks, Jamie Jones, Ben Granoff, Sam J Royale, and Mahdi Khene; and the first-ever Indie Comics Creator Con pin, indicating they are one of IC3's charter members. There's even a Stay-At-Home ticket option for those who want to participate vicariously or from afar.

Indie Comics Creator Con is a long-term commitment for the team, so in addition to the above, they will offer a limited number of lifetime passes. These special tickets make backers an integral part of this ever-growing institution, granting access to the convention for life. Backers can also add a digital or physical copy of the 2024 Indie Comics Yearbook, a comprehensive +150-page book celebrating independent comic book creators from around the world.

A Memorable Venue

IC3 will be hosted at Southern Connecticut State University's Adanti Student Center, a beautiful campus just north of downtown New Haven. The center's spacious ballroom will house the showroom floor, where creators, vendors, and publishers will showcase their work. The adjacent 200-seat movie theater will host enlightening panel discussions and must-see sessions.

Supporting the Dream

IC3 calls upon comic book enthusiasts, creators, readers, and fans to come together to support this extraordinary initiative to create a haven for independent art and ideas.
