IIT Kharagpur Bags Top Honours At HackU-2013
Online, March 17, 2013 (Newswire.com) - The students of IIT Kharagpur came up shining at the third successful edition of HackU conducted by Yahoo!.With its outstanding performance at HackU 2013, IIT Kharagpur now holds the world record for most number of hacks made in any Yahoo! HackU ever. HackU provides students with the opportunity to develop apps, work on product ideas in a 24 hour 'Hackathon' and win cool prizes. A hackathon is an event in which computer programmers and others in the field of software development, like graphic designers, interface designers and project managers collaborate intensively on software projects. The top 3 prizes in the event were iPad mini, Samsung Galaxy and Seagate Network Storage System.
Details of the winning teams are as follows:
1.Team Visual Wiki bagged the first prize with their idea of "A Visual Navigator for Wikipedia, with a Google Chrome extension". Members of the team were Vipul Jain, Nadeem Anjum, Saurabh Agrawal and Devender Bindal .All the members of the team were third year students of the department of computer science and engineering.
2. Team Follower Circles secured the second position with their idea of "Tweet to specific group by classifying them on basis of user's choice". Members of the team were Rajanya Dhar (5th year student of CSE department), Sonam Kumari, Sunandita Patra and Anusha Suresh (4th year students of CSE department).
3. Team Story Line managed the third position with their idea of "Find out the story line of the most prominent events from the history ordered chronologically". Members of the team were Vikas Sahu (2nd year student of CSE department), Shrey Sharma, Aayush Goel and Vinodh Kumar Sunkara (4th year students of CSE department).
