Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Trainees Visit Biwater's UK Headquarters

Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) trainees discuss inward investment opportunities with Biwater at the company's UK Headquarters.

At Biwater's UK Headquarters, Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) trainees enthusiastically discussed inward investment opportunities with the Biwater Team yesterday.

Focused on boosting domestic and foreign direct investment, BKPM trainees spoke about their varied roles in the organisation and initiatives aimed at driving future growth and development in Indonesia.

In turn, BKPM trainees learned about Biwater's extensive water and wastewater projects across the world, including relevant regional projects such as:

• Batam Island Water Supply Concession:
Providing over one million island inhabitants, in a rapidly growing area,
with potable water; reducing non-revenue water from 49 to
30 percent over the first 10 years of operation

• Malaysian Rural Water Supply Scheme:
A flagship scheme that incorporated 134 projects in one contract, providing the remaining 4.25 million rural inhabitants with piped treated water, across a 4,000 kilometre expanse

"Speaking with our Technology Directors and Project Finance experts, BKPM trainees gained a better understanding of Biwater's current operations, our continual efforts to innovate across every area of our business and our plans for the future. It was a pleasure to host the trainees at our UK Headquarters and we look forward to working with them as they progress their careers with BKPM," said Mr. Alastair White, Business Development Director, Biwater International.

Reflecting on the day, J.S. Meyer Siburian, Director for Indonesia Investment Coordinating Promotion Centre, said, "Our trainees were impressed with the 240 projects that Biwater has handled in the region, with eight sizable projects in Indonesia over the last 45 years. We were warmly welcomed during our UK visit and return to Indonesia enthused about future opportunities."
