International Association of Women Recognizes Tracy A. Pearson, J.D., as a 2020-2021 Influencer

CHICAGO, June 23, 2020 (Newswire.com) - ​​​The International Association of Women (IAW) recognizes Tracy A. Pearson, J.D. as a 2020-2021 Influencer. She is acknowledged as a leader in business. The International Association of Women (IAW) is a global in-person and online networking platform with over 100 local chapters, International Chapters and 1000+ in person and virtual events.

The first in her family to go to college, Tracy A. Pearson, J.D., didn’t have a clear plan about what to do after she graduated from high school. She ultimately chose a degree in English because of her love of writing and planned to teach in higher education. While attending graduate school, she identified explaining complex ideas to others and problem solving as strong skills and enrolled in law school.

In addition to a robust teaching career spanning 15 years, Ms. Pearson also managed a successful legal career. “I began my legal career working as an associate in a law firm,” she said. “I eventually opened a law and investigations practice. I slowly reduced my reliance on the adversarial process, first with collaborative law, then mediation, and ultimately owned a separate mediation practice, too.” The common thread in her work is problem solving.

Ms. Pearson now focuses on helping others understand complex information, believing that understanding is the first step to change. “Change doesn’t happen because you are told to do so,” she said. “Education is essential to creating and sustaining change.”

Presently, Ms. Pearson conducts investigations for a large nonprofit organization. Her role is to ensure the organization makes good on its promises to employees. An excellent communicator, she uses this key skill to listen to what isn’t being said as much as what is being said, to identify ways in which improvement can be made, and to speak truth to power when necessary.

Ms. Pearson is currently completing her second doctoral degree, writing her diversity-focused dissertation to complete her Ed.D in Organizational Change and Leadership in 2021. “My career goal is to positively impact people by sharing my knowledge and experience so others can understand and make better decisions,” she said.

“My best skill is taking complex and hard-to-understand concepts, breaking them down so that someone without my training and experience can understand them, and doing it on a ‘cold read,’ meaning I have little to no notice of what we are going to discuss,” Ms. Pearson added.
