Isaac Bruce Volunteers on the Receiving End for the San Francisco Food Bank

Four-Time Pro Bowler, future Hall of Famer and renowned community service advocate to be on hand to meet the public, collect food and help publicize the need for donations this holiday season

San Francisco, CA (November 2, 2009) - Isaac Bruce, wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers will be on site Tuesday, November 3, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the San Francisco Food Bank, located at 900 Pennsylvania Avenue in San Francisco, to meet the public, sign autographs and help collect donations as the Food Bank continues its "Take it to the Bank" holiday food drive.

Mr. Bruce will come out to lend his hand to help needy families in San Francisco and spur more community support to help fight hunger. Food donations, financial donations, and volunteers are needed by the Food Bank to meet the growing demand for food throughout San Francisco and Marin County.

In San Francisco one in four children and one in five adults are at risk of hunger. With the demand for food assistance increasing locally, the San Francisco Food Bank has increased food distribution by 10%, and will distribute 36.5 million pounds of food this year - enough for over seventy-eight thousand meals every day.

"We are very grateful for Isaac Bruce and his foundation. We hope that more people like Isaac, who are viewed as leaders in the community, will get in the game this season to help the Food Bank to feed the growing number of hungry people in our community," said Paul Ash, Executive Director of the San Francisco Food Bank.

"Thanks to events like this and the charitable contributions of businesses and individuals alike, we are able to bring awareness that leads to support the vital issue of hunger within San Francisco during this holiday season," continued Ash.

People are welcome to stop by the San Francisco Food Bank located at 900 Pennsylvania Avenue in San Francisco on Tuesday, November 3, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to meet Mr. Bruce, take pictures and receive his autograph. People are encouraged to bring at least five fresh, frozen, or nonperishable food items which will be given to people living in or near poverty.
