Land, Marine, and Atmosphere (LAMA) Organization Launches New LAMA Scale Indicating Earth is Heading Towards Intensive Care

BOSTON, April 21, 2020 (Newswire.com) - The LAMA Organization announces today a newly launched tool for monitoring the health of the three major domains of the Earth: land, marine, and atmosphere. The new tool termed the Land, Marine, and Atmosphere Scale (LAMA Scale), indicates that the Earth is quite sick and advancing towards the intensive care stage. Assessments by LAMA scientists across the entire scale suggest that conditions have substantially deteriorated, since the beginning of the 21st century. Scales have been used for many different climate conditions: earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, among others. These scales provide reference points for which to categorize the impact of a specific event. Scientists have lacked such a scale for overall global environmental health. The LAMA Scale considers the integrated nature of the conditions of the environment and related climate changes and comprehensively measures the global health status in a way that considers the following key conditions: Chemical, Biological (Life), Physical, and Temperature. 

By averaging an equally weighted scale across the three domains and the above key conditions, the LAMA scientists have determined the climate and environment of Earth fall into an overall rating of 3.5. The relevance of this rating places the current climate crisis in a range that falls in the moderate to severe irreversible impact on global climate health.
