Latinos For Health Fundraising Luncheon Benefitting Hispanic Health Coalition Of Georgia To Be Held In October
Online, September 1, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Hispanic Health Coalition of Georgia (HHCGA) is proud to announce its Latinos for Health Luncheon, which will raise funds to support the organization's work. The luncheon will be held on Thursday, October 25 from 11:30AM-1:30 PM at 103 West in Buckhead. The luncheon will be chaired by Jovita Carranza, Former Deputy Administrator for the US Small Business Administration in Washington, an HHCGA board member
The luncheon is slated to bring together over 200 health providers, hospital executives and others interested in supporting HHCGA's work to eliminate health disparities for Georgia's Latinos. As part of the event, the luncheon will host as its keynote speaker Dr. America Bracho, Executive Director of Latino Health Access, a Santa Ana-based center for health promotion and disease prevention. Most recently, Dr. Bracho was a main contributor to the HBO documentary series, "The Weight of the Nation," which focuses on the growing problem of child and adult obesity in the United States.
"Dr. Bracho's talk is especially timely given the release of HHCGA's Georgia Latino Health Report, which details the health status of Georgia's Latinos and identified areas for action, including the issue of obesity," said Ms. Carranza. "In addition to her knowledge about Latino health, as the executive director of a health-related organization, Dr. Bracho will discuss how health promotion programs can help address these issues. I invite everyone who is interested in Latino health issues to attend this important event to both gain additional perspective and to support HHCGA's work."
Tickets are $80 for HHCGA members and $100 for nonmembers. For more information about the event or to inquire about sponsorship opportunities, contact Heidy Guzmán at [email protected] or (678) 843-8905.
