Living On 99 Cents Guide Upgraded For Tough Economy

The Popular Guide "Living on 99 Cents" has just been upgraded for the second year in a row due to the poor economy.

As the economy continues to struggle, more and more people are looking to save every dollar they can. This is why the popular "Living on 99 Cents" guide has been updated yet another time.

"Last year, with unemployment hitting high levels, we felt we needed to update the guide to relect the financial concerns Americans were having", says Wes Sass, publisher and co-author of the guide. "However, this year the struggles have continued, the unemployment figures have not come down significantly and we changed the guide again, giving people more ideas and options on their spending".

Sass says that consumers can save significant money if they plan out their shopping, avoid impulse buying, and take full advantage of discount and dollar stores, which are doing very well and are increasing during this crisis".

Here are three tips he gives to get the most out of your shopping and to save the most money:

(1) Plan the shopping ahead of time. This was you will get everything you need.

(2) Make a list and stick to it! - Any impulse buying will defeat the purpose of planning the shopping early.

(3) Go to a few different stores, write the prices down at each, and purchase the goods at the least expensive store for each item.
(Sass tells us that discount stores don't always have the lowest prices).

"It's the age-old method of comparison shopping - it is more work, but it is well worth it in the long run".

Sass also says that shoppers should figure out how much they saved in their weekly shopping, and either put the money in a savings jar, or right in the bank.
