Looking to Give a Relaxing Back Massage?
Online, July 24, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Majority of folks enjoy getting a massage but very few people feel comfortable giving a massage to someone else. We're fearful of unintentionally hurting the other person. We are afraid that we may not help enough. We get afraid that the other person won't appreciate what we are trying to do. You will be glad to find out that anybody can learn how to give a terrific massage each time they want to do just that. Here is how you can give a terrific back massage every time you would like to.
To start, you need to make sure that the person is comfortable while he lies down. The surface on which they are lying down needs to be firm but soft. You don't have to have a massage table table but you can try to have them lie down on a bed. If you have them lying on the floor, put down a couple of soft blankets, towels or a mat so that the person will feel comfortable. If the massage-ee wishes to keep his or her shirt on, be sure that the shirt is made of a softer material to prevent accidental scratches and friction build up.
Begin with a couple of simple rubs. Using the whole flat side of your hands, rub slowly up from the lower back area toward the neck. This rub needs to have at least some pressure in it but don't apply your full massage pressure yet. Start out at the base of the person's back and then move your hands up the back then across the shoulders and then back down the back. As you do this, try making each "loop" of the back smaller so that you can be certain to get to all areas of the back.
Using the heels of your hands offers you a good way to offer fantastic and pointed pressure. Using the heels of your palms to apply pressure, start working in small circles at the base of the back on either side of the spinal column and then work those little circles out toward the person's sides, up a little bit and then back across to the spine and upward until you have massaged the whole back. Try to sit on one of the sides of the person you you're giving a massage to. Next, set one hand on top of the other and drive into the back with just your fingers. Begin at the spinal column and dig in steadily and with firm pressure across the back away from the spine and then lightly sort of glide your hands back across the back toward the spine and move upwards. Repeat while you work your way up the back and then repeat on the other side.
Massage the spine. Start at the base of the person's spinal column and then work up all of the sausage like muscles on each side of the backbone with two of your fingers or your thumbs. Work up a bit of friction in each node by kneading each one at least five times. Massage all the way up one side of the spinal column and then work up the other side.
Something that you should remember as you use every one of these techniques is that it is good to re-relax the person between each part of the massage that you give. This means that after using one technique, go back to the basic rub that you used at the beginning of the massage for a couple of minutes.
