Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center's 13th Annual Comedy Night Set for Sept. 10 at Riverside (CA) Convention Center
The event features nationally known comedians Tom Ryan and Pete McLeod, KFRG 95.1 FM's Heather Froglear as MC, a silent auction and Catalina resort raffle.
Online, August 12, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Laughter will fill the air at the Riverside Convention Center on September 10 when the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center (MSRPAC) presents its 13th Annual Comedy Night fundraiser. The show's headliner is standup comedian Tom Ryan who has opened for Jerry Seinfeld and Tim Allen, among others, and has appeared several times on television. The opening act is versatile comedian-magician-musician Pete McLeod.
Emcee for the evening is country station KFRG 95.1 FM's "Midday Diva" Heather Froglear. She admits to being "a huge animal lover" and the "mama" of two rescue dogs, one of which she adopted in 1998 from MSRPAC (known at that time as the Riverside Humane Society).
The evening begins at 7:00 p.m. with a no-host cocktail reception during which guests will enjoy hors d'oeuvres as they peruse and bid on an eclectic assortment of silent auction items donated by area businesses and artisans. Tickets for Comedy Night are $50 per person and must be purchased by September 3. Tickets will not be available at the door.
Ryan has been a full-time comedian for 15 years. He has appeared three times on the "Late Show with David Letterman," as well as on Comedy Central, A&E and more. In addition to Seinfeld and Allen, Ryan has opened for Dennis Miller, B.B. King, Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin, and other major entertainers. He also performs at comedy clubs, colleges and corporate events across the country.
McLeod is a one-man variety show who's been performing for 30 years. As an award-winning singer and magician, as well as a comedian, he combines sleight-of-hand tricks with standup comedy and musical parodies. And to add to the fun, he gets his audiences involved in his act.
Every Comedy Night fundraiser has featured a popular raffle and this year is no different. The prize is a two-night stay for two at Catalina Canyon Resort and Spa on Catalina Island which includes Catalina Express transportation, golf, dinner and spa services. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20. Attendance at Comedy Night is not required to buy raffle tickets.
